N,N-DMT use has been documented as early as the 8th Century AD in snuffs found in burial sites, but its use is believed to be much older. Cohoba snuffs (from the Yopo tree) were documented in Columbia in the 16th through 19th Centuries. N,N-DMT and 5-MeO-DMT were finally identified as the active constituents of cohoba in the early 1950s and in 1954 N,N-DMT was isolated as an active ingredient. Ayahuasca is a drink used by the shaman of ‘primitive’ tribes in ceremonies, to heal people of mental or physical injuries. It’s made from the Ayahuasca root cooked with another plant (most of the time with Chacrum leaves) for 24 hours, to extract the DMT.

DMT is a chemical neurotransmitter present naturally in the human body as well as in many plants. The pineal gland is centered in your brain and produces DMT. The pineal gland has the shape of a pinecone, derived from its shape, which is like that of a pine cone (Latin pinea). Research shows the pineal gland produces a huge amount of DMT when we die, our ultimate DMT-trip. Some cultures believe that the visions produced by this gland, are visions of enlightenment. Hence ‘the third eye’ – In some lower vertebrates the gland has even a well-developed eye-like structure; in others, though not organized as an eye, it functions as a light receptor. – It’s interesting to see, that the pine cone is portraited in many different religions. Attached to a staff, Thyrus, it’s the accessory of the Greek god Bachus (also known as Dionysus). But if you go further into history, you will discover that the pine cone staff with 2 twisted snakes (like a dubble helix) is the symbol of the Egyptian sun god Osiris. And of course the pope has a staff with a pine cone attached to it. In Italy, in the garden of the Vatican Palace you’ll see a huge statue of a pinecone with 2 peacock’s next to it, and 2 Egyptian like cats beneath it.

So what does this pine cone mean? What is the real function of our pineal gland? Maybe if we know these answers, we will understand life and they way things work a bit better.
